Right angle prism (light angle) prism mirror

We will use a right-angle prism as a total reflection mirror.

An anti-reflective (AR) coating is applied to the surface, and the total internal reflection (TIR) inside the right-angle prism will be the same as that of a 45-degree mirror. Metal mirrors cannot be used at high power due to significant absorption, and dielectric-coated mirrors cannot be used for broadband applications; however, TIR is independent of wavelength, so it can be used within the range of the AR coating.

Right Angle Prism Mirror (Right Angle Configuration Surface Coating Type)

A prism mirror that reflects light completely due to a metal film coated on two surfaces at right angles. For branching or synthesizing input images.

TECHSPEC Right Angle Prism Mirror (Right Angle Configuration Surface Coated Type) features a metallic film applied to the two surfaces that form the right angle of the prism. Like other right angle prisms, it is used for applications that require a 90° deviation of the light path, but the light undergoes total internal reflection at the metallic film surface without entering the glass substrate. Therefore, the reflection efficiency is not affected by the light transmission performance of the glass. Each surface has the function to bend the light path by 90°, allowing the input image to be split into two light paths. Additionally, it can be used to reversibly combine two independent images onto a single camera. ■ Splits the input image into two light paths, each at a 90° deviation ■ Reduces alignment time for the 45° installation of the reflective surface ■ Rich lineup available based on size and broadband coating ■ Extensive lineup of right angle prisms also available *The catalog for Edmund Optics Japan can be downloaded from the link below.
